Transfer Scholarships & Grants

Transfer students with more than 16 semester transfer credit hours or 24 transfer quarter hours may be eligible to receive one or more of the following awards.  

Transfer Excellence - $6,500 annual scholarship

Awarded to new transfer students with a 3.50 or higher cumulative college GPA.  A 2.50 GPA is required in order to maintain this scholarship.

Transfer Promise - $4,500 annual scholarship

Awarded to new transfer students with a 3.00 - 3.49 cumulative college GPA.  A 2.00 GPA is required in order to maintain this scholarship.

Transfer Opportunity - $2,500 annual scholarship

Awarded to new transfer students with a 2.50-2.99 cumulative college GPA. A 2.00 GPA is required in order to maintain this scholarship.

Phi Theta Kappa - $1,000 annual scholarship

Awarded to new transfer students that are members of Phi Theta Kappa as determined by the MVNU Admissions Office.

University Fund Scholarship - Varies (need-based on FAFSA and remaining need)

Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grant - up to $5,550 (need-based, determined by FAFSA)

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant - $500 (need-based, determined by FAFSA, limited funding)

Federal Work-Study Eligible - Up to $1,800 (need-based by FAFSA; must secure job to receive)

Federal Loans

Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan - at least $2,000 (non-need-based, interest accrues immediately at 6.8% rate, deferred until 6 months after graduation or not enrolled)

Federal Direct PLUS Loan - Varies (Loan in parent's name requires credit check. Awarded on difference between financial aid and direct costs. 10 year term, 7.9% interest rate)

Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan - up to $3,500 (need-based, no interest while in school, 6.8% rate, Deferred until 6 months after graduation or not enrolled)

Perkins Loan - $2,000 (need-based, 5% interest rate deferred until after graduation, limited funding)

Diversity Leadership Scholarship

Students that have diverse backgrounds spiritually, ethnically, culturally, etc. may be eligible to receive this award. Students must also show a history of service to church, school and community as well as have 2.50 or higher GPA.
