Mount Vernon Nazarene University Scholarships and GrantsFirst-time freshman may be eligible to receive one of the following awards. To determine your level of scholarship go to Freshmen Scholarship Calculator:Founders Scholar-$12,500 annual scholarshipAwarded to new students based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at the time of admittance. This scholarship is renewable for five years (10 semesters-fall/spring) for students enrolled full-time. Students must complete 24 credit hours per academic year and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Founders Scholars may apply to the Honors Program and if accepted will be eligible for an additional $1,000. Founders Scholars may also compete for a Presidential Academic Scholarship.Heritage Scholar-$10,000 annual scholarshipAwarded to new students based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at the time of admittance. This scholarship is renewable for five years (10 semesters-fall/spring) for students enrolled full-time. Students must complete 24 credit hours per academic year and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. Enrollment in Honors Program is optional. Heritage Scholars may apply to the Honors Program and if accepted will be eligible for an additional $1,000. Students must complete 24 credit hours per academic year and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.Promise Grant-$1,000 annual scholarshipAwarded to new students based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at the time of admittance. This scholarship is renewable for five years (10 semesters-fall/spring) for students enrolled full-time. Students must complete 24 credit hours per academic year and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.Presidential Scholarship-Up to $3,000 annual scholarshipThe Presidential Academic Scholarship is awarded as the highest recognition given for academic, extracurricular, and church/community involvement. It also looks for commitment to the vision of Christian higher education expressed through a written essay. This scholarship is worth up to an additional $3,000 award beyond other MVNU merit scholarships for which you quality, and is renewable for up to five years based on the same maintenance criteria established for your other merit scholarships. Anyone who qualifies for the Heritage Scholarship (ACT 27-30 and GPA of 3.5) or the Founders Scholarship (ACT 31+ and GPA of 3.75) are invited to apply by following this link: www.mvnu.edu/presidentialscholarshipAdditional scholarships and grantsStudents may be able to add these to one of the above listed scholarships/grants:Alumni Endowed ScholarshipThe Alumni Association is pleased to offer a scholarship to children of MVNU Alumni. The endowment is a representation of the commitment from the MVNU Alumni to their alma mater and the students who are pursuing a Christian higher education degree. The purpose of the scholarship is to continue the legacy of alumni children by giving back what was given to them. Nazarene Pastor/Missionary GrantNew, unmarried, dependent students of assigned senior pastors (or full-time pastoral staff) or of overseas missionaries assigned under the Church of the Nazarene are eligible to receive this grant. Students must also live on campus. For additional eligibility requirements contact the financial aid office.Pastor/Missionary Grant (Non-Nazarene)New, unmarried, dependent students of assigned senior pastors (or full-time pastoral staff) or of overseas missionaries assigned by a group other than the Church of the Nazarene are eligible to receive this grant. Students must also live on campus. For additional eligibility requirements contact the financial aid office.Nazarene Challenge GrantNew students that regularly attend a Church of the Nazarene are eligible to receive this grant. Students must have been a regularly attending member of the Church of the Nazarene for at least 1 year prior to receiving this grant. This grant cannot be combined with the Nazarene Pastor/Missionary Grant. Click here for additional information on this program.Christian High School ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded to new non-Nazarene students graduating from a Christian high school in Ohio. For additional eligibility requirements contact the financial aid office.Diversity Leadership ScholarshipStudents that have diverse backgrounds spiritually, ethnically, culturally, etc. may be eligible to receive this award. Students must also so a history of service to church, school and community as well as have 2.50 or higher GPA. For additional eligibility information and requirements contact the Multicultural Affairs Office.Bible/Quiz GrantThese are awarded at the District NYI Convention to members of a District Teen Varsity Bible Quiz Team. Certificate amounts are divided and awarded for four years. Contact the Financial Aid Office for additional information.Church Partnership GrantThis grant is provided for students associated with and regularly attending a non-Nazarene church.University Fund ScholarshipThis award is based on the completion and results of the FAFSA. This grant is based on need as determined by the FAFSA results. Amounts may vary. |
