Financial Aid HomeFinancial aid is often confusing and intimidating. Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Financial Aid Advisors are here to assist and counsel you through the financial aid process and the various aid programs.
Financial aid is intended to supplement, not replace, what you and your family can afford and is available from institutional, federal, state and private sources. Aid programs include scholarships, grants, work-study and loans. Mount Vernon Nazarene University provides generous scholarship and grant programs and these awards are just the start of your aid package. High school seniors considering enrollment at MVNU as first-time freshmen may wish to complete the Freshman Scholarship Calculator to calculate your expected scholarship level. Entering transfer students are also eligible for institutional scholarships and grants. Please see Transfer Scholarships and Grants for additional information.
Students interested in applying for any need-based aid or federal loan program must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be completed and submitted to the Department of Education through an on-line application as early as January 1 for the next academic year. Mount Vernon Nazarene University's priority FAFSA filing date is March 15, and you must reapply annually if you intend to utilize need-based aid from year to year. To complete your FAFSA and other important federal financial aid documents electronically, you and your parent (for dependent students) must have a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your PIN can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid and to access your Federal Student Aid records online. If you receive a PIN, you agree not to share it with anyone. Your PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal records, so you should never give your PIN to anyone! Be sure to keep your PIN in a safe place. Additional Points:
