Academic RequirementsMinimum preparationMinimum preparation should include graduation from an accredited high school with at least eighteen units of academic work from grades nine through twelve and including the following: 3 units English 2 units Math (Algebra I & II or Geometry) 2 units Social Studies 1 unit Science Students are encouraged to participate in a college preparatory curriculum. Two units of one foreign language, a fourth English or research writing, a second science, keyboarding, and microcomputer word processing are strongly recommended. Students anticipating majoring in science fields should take additional science and mathematics courses. Music students are encouraged to complete as many music classes as possible. Admission Status Unconditional admission is granted to students who graduate in the upper two thirds of their high school class, attain an ACT composite score of nineteen (19) or above or a comparable SAT score, and earn a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.50 or above. Students whose records fall below these requirements may be admitted conditionally. These students will be contacted by the Admissions Office and informed of the conditions specific to their admission. Students granted conditional admission may be required to enroll in transitional programs and/or skill building courses during the first year of enrollment. Students whose preparation or record is marginal may need more than four years to complete their program |
